Plastic Surgery Office Design

Your Plastic Surgery office design should reflect your individual style; who you are artistically, your preferences, and goals for your practice. Your interior design can evoke curiosity and comfort. Your style may be ‘clean lines with an elevated aesthetic’ or a ‘rich, warm, comforting’ décor; it may be modern and minimalistic, or modern rustic with accent colors that excite.

First impressions are everything. Your waiting room is one of the most important aspects of your interior design to ‘get right’. It sets the mood for the entire space. Your office should be both inviting and exciting yet create an impression of stringent hygiene and safety.

Plastic surgery interior office design is as essential to the success of your practice as well planned construction. A successful practice attracts and engages patients, builds your brand, and enables your team to optimize their tasks and efficiency.

Waiting Room

Decorative colors and furniture styles can create a comforting welcoming ambience that is both welcoming and professional; a blend of aesthetics and science. Color and lighting can add dimension. Seating choices should be comfortable and convenient. Consider seating with armrests and convenient tables to place handbags, briefcases and laptops.

Free Wi-Fi is an absolute must. Consider adding charging stations as well. Patients are often busy professionals who are squeezing in their appointment with you during the workday. Enabling them to be productive demonstrates that you value and respect their time.

Situate the phones away from the reception area, so your front desk staff can focus on the patients in your office, and callers get prompt, full attention.

Branding

Your waiting room is perhaps one of the most valuable marketing assets you have. It is where you present your patients with the opportunity to learn more about you, the procedures, services and the products you chose for them. The educational tools you display allow your patients to maximize their time and have a more productive experience.

The first step is to eliminate any magazines or tabloids and replace them with educational brochures on the procedures, services and products you offer. If you have a monitor in your waiting room be sure to feature a continuous loop of educational content and video footage that showcases you, your credentials as an expert, educational content on procedures and services, as well as anyone on your staff that may be a service provider. Be sure these educational tools highlight and promote the top treatments that are essential to building your brand. Your “on hold” phone wait time should feature professional messaging that does the same.

Compile your best before-and-after photos and showcase them in a photo album or load them onto an iPad. Many Plastic Surgeons are opting for custom, hardcover, commercially printed before-and-after books to showcase their work. The books can range anywhere from 40 to 120 pages and highlight you, your before-and-after photos and patient testimonials. Have your photo book professionally designed by a graphic artist in a format that can be viewed online via photo-sharing websites.

Plastic surgeons make considerable effort to manage patient expectations about the procedure, post-op instructions and outcome. These tools provide yet another step to start managing patient expectations.

Branded patient intake forms, a menu of services that showcases the full scope of your services, and a patient cosmetic questionnaire are all great opportunities to cross market them. Consider separate forms for males and females.

Patient Treatment rooms

Do not underestimate the importance of patient comfort and satisfaction in the clinical aspect of their visit. Patient rooms should be designed to mirror or compliment the look and feel of your office décor, while at the same time standardized to streamline procedures and access to supplies and materials. All aspects of the patient room design should optimize physician and staff efficiency. Rooms should be well-stocked and have the most frequently used materials easily accessible. Private and exclusive space is a must for procedures as well as for post-procedure recovery. Friends or family often accompany patients; have a comfortable space, out of the way for the patients’ companions. Privacy is a major concern for many patients, be sure to plan patient flow so that post procedure patients can exit discreetly.
